The Union Effect for Direct Care Worker Health and Well-Being
ABSTRACT:
Direct care workers navigate hazardous working conditions while experiencing low job quality. The proposed study builds on prior union effect research to examine the effect of union coverage on direct care worker wages and racial and gender inequities, as well as on benefits, poverty status, and usage of social safety net programs. Additional proposed analysis will examine the spillover effects of direct care worker union density on workplace injuries for all direct care workers by state
